Hamburg, 26th February 2024
oikon LAW is further expanding its presence on the German market with a branch in Hamburg. As was already successful in Munich, the new location will provide advice with a focus on international commercial law. The team in Germany currently comprises 20 lawyers, including four partners.
As guest of honour, Dr. Michael Schaefer, former political director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and renowned German ambassador to China, gave a short speech on the geopolitical situation and Europe’s future role in a reorganizing world.
Focus on the global SME sector
The story of oikon LAW begins in 2022 with the vision of founding a law firm that not only provides purely legal services, but also builds a strong partnership and intercultural relationship with its clients. Based on this vision, Managing Partner Thomas Sasse, together with his fellow lawyers Ralph Werner and Ulrich Baumann and tax advisor Ralf Löbker, laid a strong foundation for oikon LAW with the aim of becoming the market-leading commercial law firm for the global mid-market.
Thomas Sasse emphasized the strategic importance of the new branch in a prime location on the Alster. The new office will ensure that oikon LAW also offers leading legal advice locally in the north. He emphasized that Hamburg would act as a hub for cooperation, innovation and economic success. Particular emphasis was placed on oikon LAW’s unique expertise as a partner for hidden champions seeking global support – not only legally, but also commercially.
Setting an example in times of despondency
In his speech, Dr. Schaefer emphasized the urgent need for Europe to take bold steps to consolidate its global position in difficult times. “Dr. Schaefer shares this attitude with oikon LAW. We also believe that we can shape the future with courage and energy and thus make a positive contribution to the European economy and society,” explains Thomas Sasse proudly. He supplemented this perspective by presenting specific projects that oikon LAW is working on together with its clients. These projects cover a wide range of initiatives, including digitalization, automation, decentralized energy supply and innovation in SMEs.
