Biography
Ulrich is Managing Partner at oikon LAW and, in addition to his responsibility for the operational management of the firm, advises companies on national and international business law. His focus lies on cross-border business models, international structures, and the implementation of legal requirements into practical business processes.
He supports domestic and foreign companies in cross-border projects—from establishment, market entry, and expansion through the development and consolidation of sales structures to the legally compliant integration of new units into international matrix organizations—and serves as the point of contact for managing directors, including on economic matters and, where necessary, tax-related coordination.
Together with his team, he advises employers on international labor law topics such as secondments and global mobility, employment compliance, and the hiring and departure of managing directors and executives. In addition, he provides support in the design and transition of corporate pension plans (bAV) as well as in projects involving the outsourcing of pension commitments.
He also advises on software law, with a particular focus on compliance with European regulations. In doing so, he conducts comprehensive compliance reviews of software solutions, particularly with regard to data protection requirements, the provisions of the AI Act, NIS2, and other relevant EU directives and regulations. He assists companies in the legally compliant design, implementation, and use of digital products and supports them in integrating regulatory requirements into development and operational processes (e.g., within the framework of Privacy by Design and Security by Design).
As a certified data protection officer, he assesses data protection risks and measures “from a single source” and oversees their implementation in operational processes. In cooperation with DGD Deutsche Gesellschaft für Datenschutz GmbH, he also manages integrated, online-based data protection solutions. As an auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO/IEC 27001, and ISO/IEC 42001, he systematically prepares companies for certification and recertification—from readiness checks and gap analyses through internal audits to the implementation of measures, including governance and process integration.
Education
Ulrich studied law in Augsburg, Leeds (UK), and Munich and was admitted to the bar in Munich in 1994. He has been a certified specialist lawyer in employment law since 2001, a business mediator since 2009, and a certified specialist lawyer in international business law since 2018. In addition, he is an auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO/IEC 27001, and ISO/IEC 42001, as well as a certified data protection officer.
