Thomas' core expertise includes the management of complex transactions in international commodity trading and investments as well as the resolution of disputes in this context through arbitration.

This includes domestic and international company formations, corporate investments, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, corporate transformations, mergers and spin-offs, as well as financing by private investors and capital markets.

Thomas has over two decades of executive management experience having worked for global banks and telecoms companies in Tokyo, Singapore, Mumbai, New York, London, Barcelona and Amsterdam. He has regularly been involved in building and restructuring companies and markets, as well as international acquisitions and investments.

This experience benefits OIKON clients who expect pragmatic as well as economically and culturally viable and good legal and tax solutions.

Thomas is involved in the implementation of the UN Sales Convention in Asia, in particular India, in cooperation with UNCITRAL.

Thomas studied law, sinology and Japanese at the Universities of Würzburg and Freiburg. His doctoral thesis dealt with dispute resolution in Japanese and German law. Thomas was admitted to the bar in 1988.

Thomas is a member of the German-Japanese Lawyers Association and a research partner at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan.
