Thomas’ core competence includes the management of complex transactions in international commodity trading and investments as well as the resolution of disputes in this context through arbitration.

This includes national and international company foundations, company investments, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, venture capital, conversions, mergers and spin-offs of company parts as well as financing by private investors and in the capital market.

Thomas has over two decades of executive management experience working for global banking and telecom companies in Tokyo, Singapore, Mumbai, New York, London, Barcelona and Amsterdam. He was regularly involved in the development and restructuring of companies and markets, as well as international company acquisitions and investments.

This experience benefits OIKON clients who expect pragmatic, economically and culturally viable and good legal and tax solutions.

Thomas is involved in cooperation with UNCITRAL in the introduction of the UN Sales Convention in Asia, especially India.

Thomas studied law, sinology and Japanese at the Universities of Würzburg and Freiburg. His doctoral thesis dealt with dispute resolution in Japanese and German law. Thomas was admitted to the bar in 1988.

Thomas is a member of the German-Japanese Lawyers’ Association and a research partner at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan
